Turtle Beach Problem Empty Turtle Beach Problem

Post by GoD_GraveDancer Mon Apr 05, 2010 9:49 am

Sup all. Ive picked up the PX21s from Turtle Beach and am having issues with XBL chat. I'll be calling tech support when they open in a few hours, but figured I'd throw this out there and see if any of you know something.

I have triple checked all my connections, so that isnt my problem.

I am able to hear other gamers talking in my headset and Im able to hear the gameplay in my headset. My mic doesnt transmit any sound though. Ive tried to send a voice message, but it didnt record. I dont get a speaker icon next to my GT in MW2 and players cant hear me talking (I can hear myself through my headset though). My mic is not muted.

Any suggestions? Ive heard that I may need to open a port for the TB to work. This doesnt make sense to me since Ive had two MS headsets and they were both working as of last week.

Thanks!

just googled the headset to see if it were ps3 mic well it is. and if your using it for your xbox than thats why. i have the turtle beach X1 which was built for the xbox 360 and pc the p21 was built for the ps3 not xbox so i suggest returning it and buying either the

X1 -wired cost $60
X3 - wireless cost $90
or the
X4 wireless w/ surround sound system for your tv cost $200

you might want to look into the tritton 720 or whatever they are called, they work for 360, ps3 or pc....i have x4's and x1's from turtlebeach i primarily use for 360, i use the trittons for mainly the ps3 but have recently been using them for both the 360 and ps3....i know this doesnt help ur problem but just an idea going forward

I could return them, but that would mean a 45 min drive there and back. The PX21 is supposed to work for PS3 and XBOX, which is important since I game on both consoles.

I was mainly curious as to any settings that I may have missed. I know my PS3 recognizes them as "Turtle Beach Headset". The XBOX doesnt have anything like that. I can only find settings to "play through headset" etc.

Yeah. They work perfectly on PS3 and everything about them works on XBOX, minus the chat. The only difference in the two is the XBOX requires a talk-back cable that connects to my controller (it was included). So, either the cable is bad, but I doubt it, or there is some setting that Im missing.

BTW, TB customer support is absolutely no help at all. They only offer email or FAX (LOL) support and I swear that Im getting automated responses.

it is possible you may have a deffective port maybe shipping it back to the manufactures(thats assuming the warranty hasnt expired yet). and see if the port to the controller was really the issue or not. who know, never hurt.

I think I'd just make the trip to either return it for a replacement or exchange it for a new model.

If you go with the latter, I suggest Tritton AX720's Wink

I would first try a different controller with the talk-back cable. If that doesn't work, it's probably a problem with the cable itself. The switch might be stuck in "Mute" no matter which way you slide it.

I use the TB X4's and never had any issues. I would recommend them because they are amazing for surround sound in FPS games. I actually prefer them over my full blown surround sound setup in COD and BFBC2. It's too bad they don't work with the PS3 though.

Thanks for the input.

Ive looked at the Trittons and would rather have them over TB, but they have yet to release the wireless version that Im looking for - its been "pending release" since last fall. The other Tritton models look great, but they only have an 11 foot cable, which is why I chose TB with their 16 foot cable.

I finally got a reply from TB and they want me to email a copy of my receipt so they can replace the talkback cable. Now my scanner decides that it doesnt want to work! FML LOL

you really want wireless, the amount of batteries i went through with the tb x4's, and then the annoyance and short life of rechargables. Tritton ax 720's are awesome a tad bit heavy but nothing major.....works on both consoles. the top model of the trittons has had some issues i have heard but the ax 720's are the bomb. how far away are you from your tv? 11 feet not enough?

LOL. An 11' cable is long enough, but presents a trip hazard. My GF tends to walk between me and the TV on a regular basis. Rolling Eyes So, the 16' cable lays nicely on the floor.

To the PM I got (someone had this same issue), TB is shipping me a new talkback cable. I'll let you know if that fixes the problem.

Dude hold on to your PX21s. They are way better than the Trittons. If you switch you give up chat boost and mic monitoring, as well as the good bass you get from the TB. The talkback cable should solve the issue.

Well, the talkback cable finally arrived (almost 2 weeks after my initial contact with TB).

Problem is not fixed. So, I returned them to GameStop and picked up a copy of BFBC2 and a new PS3.
