i know this isnt the reason ppl have to pay for xbl, but A good thing that comes from it is all the ppl who mod theyre games will eventually get banned and wont ruin it anymore,

X-Box gets more love from some companies coz M$ pays for that...

i have a PS3 with Modern Warfare 2, and a X-Box360 Limited Modern Warfare 2 Edition. I have more problems online on XBL than on PSN hmmm...!? that means more bad connections on XBL than on PSN, so X-Box is by far not superior.

just my 2 cents...

Though I am neutral on the Console Issue... I don't appreciate paying $60 Dollars a year for something I get free on PSN.

They most likely heard that an industry analyst named Michael Pachter made a prediction that it would be raised to $100 and realized that it's just a guy who makes guesses for a living, rather than believing it to be the gospel truth because it's on the internet .

His prediction is based on economic logic. It's typical for a company to get you used to paying for a service for awhile, adding a few new things and then raising the price once you've bought into the process. (see Cell Phones) But with the PS3 lowered to $300 with more built-in features, a great lineup of games, and an online service that gets closer to XBL every day (for free), I don’t understand how Microsoft could ever charge $100 for Xbox Live without losing tons of customers to Sony. Pachter doesn't seem to understand that, while the 360 is in the lead, there's still a lot of time left in this console war and Microsoft is in it to win it. For example, paying IW to get map packs early and making a MW2 specific console which led to the 4.2 million copies of MW2 sold for Xbox 360 in November while PS3 sold 1.87 million. They take the subscription fee, buy exclusivity, make profit from that, add new services and upgrades, all the while keeping the subscription fee for XBL at $50 and repeating that process. At least that's the way I figure it.

LoL, ya I made this thread with no intention of sparking a console war, I just wanted to point out that Xbox gets more love because of the number of people on Xbox, for example, when the first release of preorder sales came out for MW2 it showed that 3 out of 4 preorders were for Xbox.

I just always wondered why MW2 was avoiding the PS3 and PSN emblems like the plague in all the ads and stuff

And of course I was still kind of a WPC forum noob back at

That has to do with $. That $ comes from knowing that millions of players will be on that specific console, playing that specific title.

It literally all comes down to $ though.

I brought this up with a mate of mine the other day. Hardcore techie nerd that he is, i got a 30 minute explanation why the PS3 is technically "Better" but in real world application, 360's rule.
Basically, the PS3 is more powerful, can handle slightly better graphics etc, but you dont really see it unless you're playing a PS3 exclusive (Drakes fortune for example). I brought up the whole "PS3 controllers are vile" and was countered with a "pff you can buy Xbox style controllers for PS3".
To be honest, i resorted to the age old xbox fanboy routine of "well, i don't care, Xbox is still better". And it is, cause there's more of us Wink

There's 6 of us really good mates that have known each other since we were about 5... two own PS3's the rest of us own Xboxes. The two poor buggers with PS3's had to buy Xboxes just to play with us. They sit there going "PS3 owns the xbox" while playing the xbox day in, day out.
Like most other things in life, what is technically "better" isn't the 'best' thing to have.

I don't mind the PS3 controller for short periods of time, but having lanky fingers, if i have a long gaming session, it cripples me thanks to having to bend my fingers round the dinky little handles. Big clunky house brick joypads are just more comfortable.

I used to own a PS1 and PS2. I thought they were good until i bought my first Xbox. Now I have the Elite 360 and I will never look back at the Blu Ray players with gaming functionality. Very Happy

Most people went from PS2 to 360 simply because it was released earlier, I laughed when the 360s were recalled. I stuck with my PS2 until PS3 was released.
