Vbulletin Please?

I know it is kind of expensive...but please take into consideration a vbulletin license.

Maybe community donations would be a good idea?

I think what we have now works just fine. Sure it may not be vbulletin but it's also not $235 .

And for a free forum, we are doing pretty good.

This is pretty fine. It's pretty good for a free forum.

Yep. Maybe once the wpc community grows a bit more we could through up some we placed ads that could work towards a vbulletin. One bad note to that idea is that forummotion doesn't allow ANY transfers to other forums such as vbulletin at all, even if you offer them money. Only other option is to get someone to program an import script, but that doesn't work with forummotion either sadly. So it would basically be a clean slate if we upgraded.

Yeah..I didn't even realize some of the other feature it has until now...not too shabby!

Don't get me wrong, vB would be nice, but for a free forum it's good to. Matt should try to work up some deals with some people to get vB though. :-p

VB is not worth it imo. I'm a web designer, so i have messed around with different forum system, cms's, and blogs. If this site were to move, there would be no possible way that all the threads, posts, members, etc... could be transferred to the new one.

Why use VB when you have SMF, Mybb, Phpbb(the real phpbb lol) out there. I'm more of an Mybb guy because of the wonderful plugins, but Mybb lacks free skins. They do have wonderful, well designed, premium mybb skins though. There only about 5$ for a premium theme anyways . Mybb also has an easy and organized admin cp to use. The admin cp has a template editor as well, so you can edit and basically design your own theme within the admincp.

I think WePlayCod would fit best with SMF. SMF is a very nice forum system. They have been around for a very long time, and have over 500 themes for you to choose from. SMF also has ton and tons of mods/plugins as well. They have a tiny-portal that integrates with smf and it looks very nice.

Don't forget that you have to pay for hosting and that ranges from 5-10 dollars a month.

If your interested on knowing more about the forum systems or web hosting just send me a pm. i could also provide a demo between mybb and smf or any other forum system you had in mind. i could also manage to get vb free from my friend who purchased it, but you have to pay for vb themes and mods.

I have used SMF before, it is nice, but I would rather use IPB or vB.

While I'd love to have a top-notch, professional site for all of you, I think we've got a pretty good home where we're at.

Don't get me wrong though, once I'm able to, we'll definitely be upgrading.

Joomla would be a good front end, the past year or so I've been working with advanced wordpress themes and they do a pretty decent job as well. Of course with a good amount of time put into it that is.

If I'm not mistaken, www.weplaycod.com already transfers here and it has for a while. Once the community here grows, some well placed ads/networking could easily bring in the money for upgrades.

Matt, maybe the route to go here is to come up with a number that would allow you to upgrade the site. Work up some paypal account and then have a on-site site fundraiser. Just a forum post that gives the details of what you want to do and how much money would need to be raised for it to happen. I am sure between folks willing to volunteer services and donating money you could get the resources gathered to upgrade somewhat quickly.

I think the We Play COD name has a pretty good following and would support an upgraded site. If you want help gathering numbers and the such I would be happy to do so.

Even with this economy, you would be suprised at the donations. I would love to donate, but don't have anyway to donate.
