Call of Duty 7: Vietnam?

Well we've been hearing a lot about Call of Duty possibly being set in Vietnam, and the only other discussion on this was locked, so I couldn't reply to it. What would you guys want to see? Killstreaks, guns, maps, etc. Also, this game could have a great soundtrack because of the era, so what would you like to see there?

The opening thread was locked to keep it as an introduction of sorts to the section.

I'll let the other guys and gals throw in their suggestions/wants for gameplay, but yes, a soundtrack with actual popular music from the time period would be enough for me to just buy the game and listen to it.

Yeah I think Recon planes, napalm, airstrike, and chopper gunners (M-60 in a Huey) could all be good killstreaks. As far as maps go, I'd like to see things like Knee Deep (Map Pack 1 for WaW), and also a POW village like in the movie Rescue Dawn. Also, they need to have something with the Vietnamese tunnel system. And Gimme Shelter, Hey Jude, Paint it Black, Fortunate Son, etc. would be a great soundtrack. The guns will be really interesting, because it's a mix of WWII and modern day. Also, the M16 shouldn't be as powerful, because at the time, the version of the rifle (M16A1) was single fire, like an M14 or FAL

They did have AC-130s back then... I wouldn't mind that as a Killstreak either.

killstreaks 3/5/7 that´s enough, but we should be able to choose the killstreak
3 -> UAV or Counter UAV
5 -> Artillery or mortar strike
7 -> Napalm strike or B52 bombrun
in that kind...

Idea for a game mode -> Attack and defense
you have to attack or defend a base for a limited time (10-15 min.) and after the round it changes, so you have to attack/defend in rotation etc...

Map idea -> some maps with tunnel system

Weapons -> as much as possible from that time Smile

I honestly think a Vietnam CoD now would not work out. After MW2 set the new standard for weapons, upgrades and killstreaks...i honestly think that the next CoD wouldnt work as a Vietnam era game. You would have limited weapons for each side. Killstreaks would possibly work out in its favor. But overall with the current standard for CoD games....Vietnam wouldnt work.

Limited weapons for each side? Unless they return to a class-based formula, where weapons are restricted to faction (which I'm 99% sure they aren't), we won't have to worry about that.

I think Vietnam will work just fine.

I think Vietnam will work just fine.

I didnt mean it like that. i meant it more like the fact that each side only used a few weapons. Americans had the CAR15, the M16A1, the M1 Carbine, the M14, M60 and the .30 cal. And the NVA had around the same amount. Not really enough combined weapons for a current gen CoD game. But who knows. Treyarch may find a way to make a good Vietnam game. God knows ive been waiting for a decent one for a long time now. We will see though.

If you look on wiki there is a large amount of guns avialable for treyarch to pick from. It doesn't matter from what factions the guns are from, take MW2. How are opfor going to get there hands on an AC130? Or spetznas/opfor getting a stealth bomber? Guns aren't simply limited to each side as that greats imbalance.

Assault Rifles:
M16A1, AK47, HK33, M1A1, CAR 15, M14 , FAL, SLR (or M1 Garand)
Submachine Guns:
Swedish K, M3 Greasegun, UZI, M76, MAC 10 (Machine Pistol)
Machine Guns:
Saco Defence 60, L2A1, Browning, Stoner 63
Shotguns:
Ithaca 37, Remington 870, Remington 11-48
Sniper Rifles:
M21, Springfield, Winchester Model 70, M40.

And pistols were probably in abudance but cba to right them out...

Okay there are a limited about of semi auto snipers and actually shotguns but otherwise there are enough guns to go ahead with.
