FMJ: Added Damage or Added Penetration? Empty FMJ: Added Damage or Added Penetration?

This is something that's puzzled me, and I haven't found a definitive answer.

Does FMJ add extra bullet damage to all of your shots (even those that don't penetrate)? Thus the extra bullet penetration would come from all bullets doing more damage, the walls reducing the bullet damage to normal.

Or,

Does FMJ simply do what Deep Impact did in COD4?

Obviously, I'm asking because of what happens to the damage meter when FMJ is equipped.

FMJ is simply Deep Impact from COD4, it only gives you added bullet penetration.

If I'm not mistaken, FMJ doesn't actually increase penetration, rather it increases the damage of a bullet post-penetration compared to a bullet without FMJ. Make sense?

Ahhh yes that makes more sense! After a bullet without FMJ goes through a barrier it's damage s drastically reduced, but when it is equipped with FMJ the damage isn't reduced as much.

yes, it only improves penetration. the stats are rubbish, they aren't actually correct at all, for example all the sniper give the same damage - 70 or 50 when they are silenced, but in the stats they all give different damage, also snipers are 100% accurate when aiming and the stats they are only about 75%. another thing is nearly all ARs give roughly the same damage but the stats show huge differences in the damage. i just ignore the stats
