So I just got a 360 and wanted to start gaming right away. The GT I choose.... I don't like it. I know you can change it for 800 MS points, but that's ridiculous. So I'm asking everyone to file a complaint on my GT- CFBranger. Please help me out! Thank you to those who help

It's not going to work unless there's a way for that tag to be against the T&C

It won't work. Microsoft check a complaint and then change the Gamertag if they feel it is offensive. Unfortunately, there's nothing offensive about yours for you. So, you can't get it for free. Unless, read on:

Did you redeem a code for Xbox LIVE Gold for the year or whatever? If not, you can make another account under a different email address and use that one. If you did input a code, you're going to have to get another one. When signing up you can say you wish to remain a Silver member and then you will get a free month of Gold membership, with the first three or something accounts from that console.

are you on the free 1month trial, because if you are, when it runs out instead of paying for xbox live, just make an entirely new account

I think it is nonsense to pay to change an online gamertag. Look at PSN, it's free to make another gaming account.

Yes, that would be a down fall, but I'd rather re-earn trophies than paying money to change a gamertag. It's nonsense.

800 MS points is like 5 dollars

It's $10 exactly AND it's worth it to keep all achievements, map packs and other DLC while changing your name. Unless you'd rather re-buy every map pack and DLC add-on that you've bought in the past Major?

I believe that if you make a new account on that system then you still have the Map Packs and DLC. I've never restarted, well because I'm happy with my Gaming Name, but IMO I think that Gamertags should be able to be changed for free. Maybe Microsoft can put a limit on it... every 90 days you can change your Gamertag for free. Even though it is "only" $10, that money could go towards something else.

DLC can only be used by the account that actually buys it. My map packs saved to my hard drive cannot be used by my b/f if he's using his account on my xbox.

for DLC it works like this. if it's the first time you're downloading it, it will work on ALL accounts on that system. however, if your xbox breaks down or you re-download it on a different system then it will only work for the GT that purchased it originally.

Or they could make it free. That's why I left the Xbox. I wasn't about to pay $60 more just to get another year of crappy service. I'm on PSN from now on!

DLC does NOT work like that. It only works for the GT that purchased it.

trust me ditka... it works like I described it. I have bought DLC with my GT on a friends xbox and then moved my profile to MY xbox to re-download it and he gets to continue to use it for FREE. As long as he doesn't have to re-download it for any reason he'll continue to be able to use the DLC on his GT even though I purchased it from mine.

I find that hard to belive as my b/f bought content for Fable 2 with his GT on my hard drive, he then re downloaded it to his hard drive but i was unable to use the content on my xbox even though it was clearly there when i looked at the memory.

that is really odd.... the first time I found out about this was when I downloaded worms 2 on my friends xbox and then later went home to play it and found that he could still access it. even though he never paid for it. to test it later we tried again with some of the new map packs for gears of war 2. same thing happened. so we've had the same success in 3 different instances.

oh... btw... it will only work for all the users if it's the original HDD AND xbox 360 system. so if I were to download it onto his HDD and his system and then he moved his HDD to a different xbox it would NOT work. it's linked directly to the initial xbox unit not the HDD. which is why if you had to get your system fixed and they sent you back a different unit because they couldn't fix yours it would only work on the profile that originally downloaded it.
