Well, we've all been hearing the rumors and so far everything looks like it's pointing to a Call of Duty: Vietnam by Treyarch this coming Fall 2010

Call of Duty: Vietnam by Treyarch this coming Fall 2010. Vietnam

Not sure what everyone else thinks about this change in scenery from WWII but I suspect it's welcome; especially considering this era of war has been previously untouched by this series.

According to PlanetXbox360, they've uncovered some interesting things about the upcoming release. Apparently the game will focus heavily on the actual story, including the struggles of your squad mates.

Also, just as the WWII based games in the series were modeled after movies such as "Saving Private Ryan", the upcoming release will be based on notable Vietnam era films such as "Platoon", "Full Metal Jacket", and "Apocalypse Now".

Not sure what everyone else thinks about this change in scenery from WWII but I suspect it's welcome; especially considering this era of war has been previously untouched by this series.

I really would like to see a Vietnam one made by Treyarch Thumbs up

Yeah definitely the WWII theme has been used and abused for far too long. it will be nice to see a different look on things.

Still,one thing will be the same:- The M16 will be weapon of choice,lol

And possibly airstikes involving NAPALM.

Sort of like the stealth bomber on MW2 but instead of dropping a path of bombs it will be napalm and then a road of fire

HELL YEAH. I love the smell of napalm in the morning.

or think about some tunnel missions or maps, where you have to find the others or you can walk through pirat

Yeah like the trench mission in WAW? i enjoyed that. But if it is nam, we have to into jungle warfare

was the movie "we were soldiers " vietnam? Im curious if they would include some of the newer style with older war. Like the killstreaks of mw2 and such. I agree sounds like alot of fun. But then again most all COD games are worth playing. Wink

We Were Soldiers was awesome. I know both of the guys who wrote the book. Colonel Hal Moore and Joe Galloway.

As long as they get the rights to use the best music from the Vietnam era, which all signs have pointed to this being true, this will have the best soundtrack ever put in a video game.

Since you said "decent", I have to show the original Xbox title, VietCong: Purple Haze some love. I played it quite a bit on Live back in the day, and it wasn't half bad.

As for CoD7, I would be thrilled to have a 'Nam game with era-appropriate popular music.

I would love this, i personally hate vietnam because we lost... but a game about it would be cool. However the multiplayer will probobly feel like W@W but with m16's and ak-47's. But i will buy it of course.

Plus maybe another zombie mode?

And some Sunshine of Your Love and All along the watch tower would go great with this game

Oh har de har har. Yeah yeah yeah. But yeah, game devs have really failed at making a Vietnam game I want to play more than once. We need a good one. For the men who fought and died over there.

Quick story. My uncle's buddy was a door gunner in a Huey during 'Nam (one of the most dangerous if not the most dangerous positions). Long story short, he took some shrapnel to his eye and ended up with a prosthetic and a plate in his head.

Not too long ago he was outside smoking at a friend's house during a lightning storm, lightning struck the house's antenna, ran down the side of the house to the plate in his head, and literally blew his prosthetic eyeball out of his head!

Spent a good hour searching for it and eventually found it, rinsed it off, and popped it back in.

Yes m8 you are right it was based around the battle of the Ia Drang Valley which was supposedly what changed the shape of the war?
